Three Roles
Performance can be viewed through three primary roles.
The first is the Contributor. Contributors own responsibilities. Contributors commit to delivering outcomes. We are all Contributors. The goal is to activate your personal approach to delivering outcomes.
Contributors are the focus of TRM's Section 2.
When you enlist others to help you deliver your outcomes, you're not only a Contributor, you're also a Lead. This isn't a reflection of a spot on an org chart. It's simply the recognition that your approach to performance requires you to enlist others. While it's often recognized by formally having managerial responsibilities, that's not what matters. What matters is simply that you cannot deliver results all on your own. You need others to help you.
Leads are the focus of TRM's Section 3.
Executives are similar to the Lead, but they are further removed. Contributors for sure. They lead others. But the people who are making their success possible are often far removed. As a result, Executives must rely on structures and culture to deliver results.
Executives are the focus of TRM's Section 4.
